Yes. This what I am doing with my last few hours of National Novel Writing Month. A friend of mine posted the Hans Gruber countdown this morning, so my brain has been reworking this song. I decided to appease it by getting the words down. I have no rights to this song. As you can see, it only need a few tweaks to make my mind happy this morning. I have no rights to the characters from the “Die Hard” movies. I do, however, have a deep appreciation for both and the men and women that brought them to life, so go buy as many officially licensed copies of the song and the movies as you can to show appreciation to those creative minds and hopefully keep this one out of trouble. (I mean, who wants to get on Santa’s naughty list this close to Christmas? Not this hobbit.
Of course, I will soon rewatch the movie and realize better lyrics need written, but that is a perk and a risk of the job.
Happy Christmas, John McClane
Happy Christmas, Holly
So this is Christmas
And you changed your name
Another year over
And your husband just came
And so this is Christmas
It isn’t the same
Playing Hans Gruber’s game
When he knows your name
A very Merry Christmas
And a yippee ki yay
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas (war is over)
For right not for wrong (if you want it)
For rich and the poor ones (war is over)
The fall is so long (now)
And so happy Christmas (war is over)
For black and for white (if you want it)
For yellow and red ones (war is over)
John stops all the fight (now)
A very Merry Christmas
And a yippee ki yay
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas (war is over)
Watching Hans Gruber fall (if you want it)
Another year over (war is over)
Because John made the call (now)
And so happy Christmas (war is over)
We hope you have fun (if you want it)
The near and the dear one (war is over)
The old and the young (now)
A very Merry Christmas
And a yippee ki yay
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now
Happy Christmas!
